Students from a local Freedom School, who recently completed the six week program, share the experiences they have had over the summer. The show moves through a series of chants, poems, and interviews recorded by the Freedom School students to explain the activities and methods used to improve reading skills among the scholars.

Chandler Wilson, a student in the Columbus Medical Association Foundation's Youth Advisory Council (YAC), talks about why using social media and other digital tools is important and helpful for philanthropy groups seeking advocates and donors. Then, host Anna Siriano sits down with April Calkovsky, the leader of the NECKO community garden, which was built for a community of people with disabilities, as well as their neighbors. Later, she also talks to Britany Hoeffer, leader of the Summit community garden, and two boys who have been helping at the garden for a couple of years. In the final segment, Youth Beat reporter Bridgette Kreuz talks to Brenda, an OSU student, to find out what kind of difficulties she and her family have faced as Mexican-Americans.

Youth Beat reporters gathered interesting and insightful perspectives on both Cuba and India. In the first segment a student talks about the positives and negatives she noticed while visiting Cuba, as well as her past experiences and plans for the future. Then, an Ohio State graduate student talks about the ways in which growing up in the Himalayas has shaped her views on global climate change, and what she thinks can be done in both the United States and India to improve the environment.
