Parisfal was the final (and some think the finest) Opera written by Richard Wagner. For many years it was only performed at the Bayreuth Festival Theatre in Bavaria. Both the opera and the composer are highly controversial. Check it out yourself and let me know what you think.

This brilliant composition marries soaring choral with a deeply emotive orchestration. The film tells the story of a 13th Century invasion of Russia by the Teutonic Knights and their subsequent defeat by Prince Alexander Nevsky. In actual fact . . . coming immediately before WWII . . . it presages the Nazi Invasion of the Soviet Union and their subsequent rout.
